Habitat ReStore Donation Truck Driver
The ReStore is a building material and home goods thrift store that functions as a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity. The ReStore is open Tuesday-Saturday from 8:30 am-4 pm. Volunteers here will help schedule donation pick-ups within the city limits of Columbia. You will be trained to drive the box truck, be covered by Habitat insurance, and will need to undergo a background check. You will work with another volunteer or staff until you get the hang of it and feel confident. We are hoping this person will sign on for a weekly shift and come consistently. There is a lift gate on the truck as well as moving equipment/straps/etc along with a traveling buddy to help with pick pick-ups. THE FOUR PARTS OF THE RESTORE MISSION: 1. FINANCIAL- – serve as a financial partner in the construction of Habitat houses 2. SOCIAL - provide low-cost materials for neighborhood revitalization 3. ENVIRONMENTAL – be good stewards of valuable resources; the ReStore diverts about 3,000 tons of material from the waste stream each year 4. ECONOMIC – reduce landfill disposal costs by reducing the amount of discarded materials; we help save the city of Columbia thousands of dollars annually
